Screaming Pillow

Have you ever had one of those days?  I mean those days...where everything seems to be humming along quite nicely and them WHAM!  something blasts you in the face?  That was today.  I was having a quite lovely day at work, getting quite a bit accomplished and then it was like a switch flipped and everything seemed to be having issues.  As soon as I fixed one, something else would crop up.  Not the best of days.  I needed the screaming pillow.  Badly.  Thinking I must find a place for one in my desk because it was that kind of day.  And I'm sure there will be others.  Oh yes, there will be others.  Screaming where the office can hear me wouldn't be professional.  No.  So the screaming pillow might be a solution.  Until my boss walks by.  But I'd feel better, right?!

Fast forward to now and I'm back to a peaceful day.  My sassy oldest is sitting quietly at the table reading Harry Potter.
Little Miss is busy playing her leapster explorer game.  Even the dog is happy.  No bickering.  No demands for a snack.  No barking.  Bliss I tell you.  Bliss!

See?! (I apologize for icky photos...my Blackberry unfortunately does not take the best pictures and it was handy)

It's amazing.  This NEVER happens when I've had a bad day at work.  The stars have aligned and I can almost hear the hallelujah chorus.

Still working on some house stuff, so I don't have anything super exciting to share... but here is another card I did recently so you'll have something pretty to look at...I mean other than my kiddos, of course

Pay It forward

My good friend Nain had this on her blog and I'm really excited to participate!  Those that have hung around here awhile know that I'm into all things crafty.  Just yesterday I started trying to teach myself how to knit.  This is my 2nd attempt at teaching myself to knit...the first time was a MAJOR disaster.  This time started out badly.  I wanted to throw my knitting needles out the window...but I think I finally got a groove going and it looks decent.  Yay me!  So ya never know what I'll come up with to send out... First 5 people to leave a comment (remember you have to re-post on your own blog and do the same!) gets something homemade from me!

Ready, Set, Go!

A catch up...and some reflection

TGIF...this has been one of the longest weeks ever!  We had so much going on this week, some stress at work, cranky kids, boxes and stuff everywhere...it was a bit overwhelming.

Being in this new house is such an amazing blessing to us.  To have a place that is really truly ours is such a wonderful feeling.  However...I'm having some issues with my demand for immediate gratification.  I want every room to look like a magazine like yesterday.  Please and thank you.  I have photos that I've snipped from magazines and blog posts bookmarked with different ideas for each room in our house...and of course, as most people can relate to, a limited budget to put the plan into action.  I was getting a little bummed about this when I was putting together Cait's room today, arranging furniture and then rearranging it and then arranging it again until I found a way that I liked.  Her room is one that I have TONS of plans for.  She and I went through a lot of catalogs and books several months ago and she picked out what she calls her "dream room."  Now what mother wouldn't want to give their child their dream room?!  I am struggling with the reality that there are other things that must come first.  Like blinds - which...good grief are expensive!  We spent almost $1,000 and didn't get the whole house done and that was AFTER our 10% discount at Lowe's.  Our house does have tons of windows but still...I never knew they were that expensive. They are certainly something you take for granted.  Til you don't have them anymore and you have to worry about who can see what.  Anyway, going through all this gotta have it decorator thing caused a bit of reflection...

I want it all.  New furniture because the dog has left his mark on ours (he's a St. Bernard...lots o' slobber!)...fancy lighting and rugs and curtains.  I wanted to just stomp my foot like you see those women do on TV and then suddenly they get their way.  You know what I'm talking about.  But then I took a big breath and looked around and started to just see things differently.  First of all...I'm married to the most amazing man ever.  I am extremely blessed to have found my true soul mate and get to spend my life with him.  I have beautiful little girls who, at times, make me completely crazy.  But they are healthy, happy, well-adjusted little people and they make my life a beautiful {but messy}thing.  I have a job, a gorgeous new house and plenty of "stuff" to fill it up.  We are all healthy, we have plenty of food on the table and pay our bills on time.  I am blessed.  Even if I can't go and purchase the entire pottery barn teen catalog for my daughter, I have a wonderful life.  A lot to be thankful for.

On that note, I want to take a second to ask that you pray for my friend, Alicia and her husband Dave.  Dave is battling a very rare cancer and has been fighting for over a year now, was in remission, and then it came back and they are going through chemo again right now.  They have a 4 year old little boy and they are kind of feeling their way with this cancer because it is so rare that not many people have had it...which makes it very difficult to treat.  Their faith and strength amazes me and I can't think of a family that is more deserving of prayers and well wishes.

So enough of the heavy for now...here, as promised, is one of my favorites from the wedding I had the pleasure of photographing last week.  This was not a "traditional" ceremony, but I had tons of fun photographing them.  We walked around downtown and got some great shots.

I love the look on his face in this one...
And for those that come by to see some crafty stuff, here is a card that I did recently.

We've FINALLY moved!

Good morning, friends!

I am happy to say that after agonizing months of waiting we FINALLY closed on our new house last week.  It made our St. Patrick's day so wonderful...no green beer or festivities of that nature for us, but it was all okay because we were able to start moving.  My husband has been absolutely fantastic throughout this whole process with the move because I've not only been working at my "day job" but I have also had some photo shoots and other things come up.  He coordinated the entire move, found people to help him with moving the furniture and also did all of the move-out grief with the apartment.  I know he is absolutely exhausted from it all, but I am SO thankful that he was able to get that done.  So we are completely in the house now, all of our stuff in one place!  YAY!
We also have internet hooked up, thank goodness...I was going through some major internet withdrawals during our stay at the apartment.  Torture I tell you, torture! I'd rather be without TV to be honest.  So that means that I'll be back to regular blogging now, woohoo!  'Bout time, huh?
So thank you for sticking it out with me and I hope you're all still coming by to visit... I have a couple posts already scheduled for the rest of this week and I may pop in a few extra times just because I can now! *wink*

I will have some sneaky peeks at some photos I did last week later this afternoon so you'll have something pretty to look at!  Stay tuned!!
