Weekend Wrap Up

Well good morning!

Here's a little re-cap of our weekend and a few photos from my iphone- and a couple that I found online because I didn't take actual pics- oops!

1. Field Trip Friday with Hayley's class to Bee City.  Such a cool place- I had never been
2. H and I went out for ice cream at DQ after her field trip- she had an oreo blizzard, I had cookie dough (of course)
3. Pizza and wine at my friend Alex's house.
3.  Saturday- woke up at the crack of dawn to go stand in line at Caitlynn's dance studio to get recital tickets.  Anyone else think it's absolutely crazy to have to stand in line before the place opens to get decent seats to a kids dance recital? ! One lady was there before 5 am!
4.  Did a little shopping at Rue 21 because they were having a big 40% off sale
5.  Took some pictures of Cait- good grief she's getting so grown up
6.  Did some stamping in the studio

And that's our weekend in a nut shell.  What did you all do?

PTI April 2013 Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, Lovelies!

It's "technically" my Friday today- off work tomorrow to go to Bee City with a whole bus load of first graders.  I'm so excited to spend the day with Hayley and her friends exploring an attraction in the area that I haven't been to yet! Hayley has been before on a field trip, but this will be my first time. I'll be sharing some pictures of that adventure sometime this weekend.  Please keep your fingers and toes crossed that it doesn't rain.  I was COMPLETELY soaked today picking her up from after school care.  Torrential downpour.  I don't wear "Drowned Rat" very wasn't pretty.  But then, we pulled into the driveway and had a rainbow waiting for us just behind our house.  I couldn't let that go by without getting a quick picture-

Made my day completely better.  Pretty powerful things those rainbows.

Anyway... it's time for the April Blog Hop over at Nichole's blog.  This month's theme was "Tilted". .

I started out with a white standard A2 size card base.  I then created the main white panel by stamping the Happy sentiment from Celebrations in a repeated pattern using Soft Stone and Limemade Ice on a slant.  The large sentiment from Stylish Sentiments: Birthday was stamped on top of that with Smokey Shadow ink. I then die cut the flowers, leaves, and rick rack borders.  I stacked the two rick rack border die cuts on top of one another and adhered those to my base panel.  I then stamped the Rosie Posie flowers first in Berry Sorbet and then topped that with the detail images from Rosie Posie Step 2.  Can I just say...I LOVE this step 2 set and how amazing the images look put together.  I'm going to be using it a lot, I just know it.  Makes me love my Rosie Posie set so much more!
I adhered the flowers and leaves to the card using dimensional adhesive and finished them off with a couple of rhinestones.

I used all Papertrey Ink products, with the exception of the little gem stones.  Those are from Queen and Co.

I apologize for the short, to the point post- gotta get up early for our big Field Trip day! Unfortunately grocery shopping took up far too much valuable time this afternoon after work...gotta love a Walmart trip with the kiddos.  Or...NOT! *wink*

Hope everyone has a wonderful beginning to their Friday tomorrow!

Do what you love

Well friends, my tweaks on the dusty old blog are complete.  I'm sure I'll think of things to add and/or take away as time goes on but for now I'm happy with how her makeover turned out and I learned some fun new things along the way.  Like how to make my own social media icons- --->> check those out!  (And while you're at it, feel free to come join me on Pinterest and Instagram!) I'm so proud that they actually work- on my first try & without cursing my computer! Yay me!!

With everything that is going on in the world these days, I think everyone is searching for more joy.  I for one definitely am always looking for the light on the dark days.  I'm a generally optimistic person. I just like smiling.  Smiling is my favorite! (Name that movie!) But with all that is in the news right now, I promise I will NOT be going political with all this, it's difficult for even the most optimistic people to just keep on smiling.  I've had some personal reflection time {in other words, the hubster has been traveling which = no sleep for me!} and I kept finding myself coming back to bringing in more of my own joy.  The world isn't going to hand it to me, so I just need to do it.  Share it.  Embrace the journey of it.  And hopefully make some new friends along the way.  Which brings me to the blog.  I've had it the past few years. I've shared here and there, participated in some challenges, and so on, but it hasn't been part of my routine. It hasn't been at the top of the list, mostly because me doing things for me wasn't anywhere near the top of the list.  It kept getting shoved down to the bottom of the pile after job commitments, parenting commitments, marriage commitments, and just plain life getting in the way.  So here I am, picking myself back up, dusting myself off and getting back on the horse.  Doing more of what I love.  Doing it often.

What do I love?  My kids.  My husband.  So thankful for this wonderful life I live.  So I'll be sharing that... like my kiddos and I went and had a girls weekend last week while the mister was out of town.  We saw the Croods- super cute.  All three of us were on the verge of tears during the movie!
Here we are after the show posing in front of the movie poster.  I took some shots of the girls with the whole display, but happy to have captured this little selfy of us just enjoying our time together. Making memories with my girls.  We enjoyed lunch at McCallisters and took a trip to Hobby Lobby, my happy place.  AND we topped all that off with a visit to one of our absolute favorite local places, Cupcake.  The perfect day, except, of course, for the fact that my husband wasn't there to join us.  He had a good day too, though.  He was in Washington D.C. visiting the monuments, museums, and took in a ball game.  Don't feel too sorry for him- *wink*.

I also love being creative. Getting my hands dirty.  Making a giant mess in my studio and just getting lost in the process of creating.  Just because.  So I've been a busy little bee this week.  Lots of cards to share- lots of projects in progress that I can't wait to share as well.  See, I'm not picky about my hobbies.  I have a gazillion of them.  Stamping/Scrapping are my most frequent so lots of that will be shared here. I also like to paint - on canvas, not walls.  Shudder...I hate painting on walls.  I like to do enough that I can see what the color looks like and then I'm done.  Ha.  My poor husband.

Anyway, enough of my rambling on and last little thing to share with you for tonight-
I apologize for the poor quality of this photo.  Taken at around 11 pm instead of in natural light, but couldn't leave without sharing something crafty! :-)

Under Construction

Hello my lovelies!

As you can see, I am in the process of making some changes to the blog-o! Please bear with me as I get everything up and running... it might be a mess around here for a couple of days!
