December Daily- The beginnings

Hey everyone!
I am a little late in sharing my progress on my December daily album here.  I didn't make my album in advance- this is my first time participating and I have more of a scrap as I go mentality, so I decided that doing it all along the way would work better for me.  It does have it's challenges. With this time of year, it's hard to stay all caught up, but I'm just taking it as I can and I'll finish up when I finish up.  I'm still documenting, still getting the stories all told.  It might just take me a week or so into January before I'm completely finished.  And I'm okay with that.

Here is my cover:

I am using a simple stories binder that I already had on hand.  I had the page protectors and everything for the binder already and it was just sitting there waiting for a reason to use it, so instead of purchasing something new, I just went with it.  I may still add some embossing or something else to the cover later on, but for now I'm good with this.

Then I made a little title page for the front of our album. Love the little sequin confetti packet.  My sewing machine was being a little temperamental that day so it took me a little while to seal the packet closed at the top, but it all worked out ;-)

And finally my layout for Day 1.

The girls are so happy having our elf, Sprinkles, around during December so it was definitely a story I wanted to be sure to include.  The smaller photo in the middle is just an extra picture I wanted to include and the back side is a card that Sprinkles brought with him when he showed up that morning.  The crayon on it is courtesy of Hayley taking it to school for show and tell.  Her teacher had her store it in her crayon box until it was time to go home after she shared it.  I created the "magic" card using photoshop with a quote I found, and embellished it with some washi tape a large gold sequin and a number sticker that came in an older Studio Calico scrapbook kit that I had in my stash.

He arrived a few days late this year, but I still used it as my Day 1 story.  We were traveling on December 1st and the girls were asleep for the ride.  We were all so tired that I didn't really take photos and it wasn't something that I wanted to document for the December album- it was more of a Thanksgiving story.  I WILL be documenting our December travels when we go to Grandma's for our big extended family celebration.  I am not as structured about this as some are, I suppose.  I don't really care which day what happened, as long as I get all of the traditions and events documented.  For the story card, I just put something together quickly in photoshop and printed it out and then added the polka dot washi tape to the bottom.  I purchased that washi at Target.  The large elf photo has the thin white frame and the "Hello magic hello Joy" printed directly on the photo.  I printed all of my photos and everything at home on my Epson printer.

I'll be back soon to share days 2 & 3!
